Founder Vikram Narula did not set out to become a watchmaker. After years in the corporate world, his enduring passion for horology — shaped by his father’s collection and an appreciation for mechanical timepieces — gradually transformed into something more purposeful.
What started as admiration became research.

Ajwain is another interesting microbrand coming out of India and it’s not hard to see why local enthusiasts are into it. Founded by Vikram Narula in 2017, Ajwain has a distinctly thoughtful design sense that is at once provincial and universal. In specific, two Ajwain watches caught my attention. The first is the Kakori 8 Down Centenary Edition which pays tribute to the Kakori train robbery in which Indian freedom fighters robbed a train and went on to become anti-colonial folk heroes. It’s quite a story and I recommend reading more into it if you’re so inclined.
Among its notable creations, the Kakori 8 Down Centenary Edition stands out — a tribute to a pivotal moment in India’s freedom movement. Through such pieces, Ajwain connects craftsmanship with storytelling, creating watches that go beyond timekeeping.
